Hall call: Varsity Club announces 2016 Hall of Fame induction class

Comments

Six standout Northeastern Athletics alumni will be inducted into the Northeastern University Varsity Club Hall of Fame for excellence in their respective sports, the department announced today. David Archambault, Luke Carlin, Jim Dawson, Carie Graves, Cindy White and Mike Williams will be honored at the Varsity Club Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony this fall. The Class of 2016 features alumni from the Northeastern baseball, football, men's ice hockey, men's track and field and women's rowing teams, and includes inductees who have enjoyed tremendous success in their respective sports, dedicated countless hours toward performing at the highest levels, and have supported Northeastern Athletics beyond their time as student-athletes. The Varsity Club Hall of Fame was established in 1974. The Class of 2016 is the Hall of Fame's 41st in its history, and joins more than 251 past inductees who have contributed to Northeastern, its athletic programs, and the Husky community, both during and after their time on Huntington Avenue. Eligibility Criteria: Eligibility shall not begin until five years after the student-athlete's last year of competition. Any former Northeastern University alumnus who has earned his or her letter in any sport considered to have varsity status or has achieved superior accomplishments is eligible for nomination. The nominee shall be chosen on the basis of playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character and his or her contribution to the team or teams on which he or she played, and to Northeastern University. Added consideration shall be given for outside activities, such as enhancement of Northeastern University athletics programs, community life and professional attainments which have enhanced his or her prestige and have added honor to Northeastern University. Please note: Former Northeastern student-athletes who are still playing professionally and would be unable to attend the induction ceremony due to their season schedule become eligible for the Varsity Club Hall of Fame at the conclusion of their professional careers. This decision was made by the selection committee in the hope that the former student-athlete would be able to attend the induction ceremony should he/she be voted into the Hall of Fame.
